It's almost January and we are starting to feel the urgency of the mission to Africa. Yesterday, Everett talked to a couple who served their mission there. They said Johannesburg had better weather than San Diego! They loved the people... said they were very kind, generous, warm and loving. They also said we could buy just about everything we need there (for less), except for white shirts (which material is way inferior to ours). The area office where we will be working is within walking distance of shopping and the temple. We also listened to a radio interview of a couple who actually worked in Public Affairs (which is what we are called to do) and he said they were over all of Southeast Africa, not just South Africa! That covers a lot of Africa, including the islands where Madagascar is located! Wait until I tell the twins...Ha. We are lining up vaccinations, working on things for our visas and trying to get rid of stuff. Ryan will be living in our house while we are gone and will probably be housing the Buda Ward missionaries as well, so some stuff has to go or get put in storage. I never realized how much unnecessary stuff I have. I think stuff is a burden at this stage of life, so out it goes! It will be difficult to be that far away from family and friends. I am hoping they will communicate on our blog. We also learned that we will be leaving sooner than we thought because of Public Affairs training that we will undergo before going into the Missionary Training Center. So our leave date has moved up to March 20th.
