We were up at 2:30 in the morning because Sister Murdock needed to be taken to the emergency room. Elder Kyle took them, with Sister Murdock curled up in a ball on the back seat in pain and Elder Murdock up front trying to help him find the emergency room entrance. It was late and it was dark and it was close to downtown...not a place you want to be under those circumstances, but they found it, got her in and settled with the doctors trying to find out what was wrong.
Since they were going to be there awhile, Elder Kyle came home and tried to get some sleep, but we were both wide awake and didn't get much sleep that night, plus Elder Kyle got up at 6:30 so he and Sean could get to church in Hillcrest (about 30 minutes away). Sean had arranged to meet with our PA guy who was visiting from Cape Town. Then after church, Elder Kyle took Sean to the airport. I stayed home in case Sister Murdock was released and they would need to get in the flat. Sure enough, about 12:30, they called and said they had rented a taxi and were coming back. When they arrived, she looked better, but was still in some pain. They thought it might be a kidney stone or pancreas attack, but were not sure. They wanted her to stay in the hospital and have an ultrasound the next day, but they wanted R20,000 in cash to admit her (About $2,000). Since it was the weekend and Elder Murdock could not get a hold of his bank to transfer the funds, they decided to come back to our flat and go back the next day for the ultra sound. They both went in the rest room and slept for about three hours.
While they were sleeping, I was trying to think what to feed a sick person that didn't feel like eating, but hadn't eaten since noon the day before. I put some chicken breasts in a pan to cook and proceeded to cut up vegetables for chicken soup and then made a spinach, strawberry and nut salad. I cooked some bread in the oven and when they woke up, served an early dinner. They both ate it all, so I guess it was the right choice or they were starving. They had already booked and paid for a hotel by the beach so they could spend Sunday hanging out there and having a vacation/P-Day. So, after much deliberation, they decided to go to the hotel, in hopes that she would feel better and they could enjoy their time at the beach the next day.
We tried to relax after the craziness of the weekend and focus ourselves on Christ, like we are supposed to do on Sunday. I opened up the following link and listened to all the selections there of David Glen Hatch. They are very good and fun to listen to. The patriotic one are very lively, but make you feel good. Click on the link and then on the first song. The rest will automatically play one after the other. I promise it will make you feel good!
